Others words, their way of thinking
Weigh you down
Maks you exhausted to fight

Poem Based on Reading About Troy Davis

So the other week I read about Troy Davis and it inspired me to write a poem. For those that don’t know he is currently on Death Row, but many believe he is innocent, especially in light of the fact that there is no physical evidence, 7 of the 9 witnesses recanted their testimony, and it’s been said that one of the witnesses (one who didn’t recant) had confessed to the killing. Just google it or head to the Amnesty International website to find more. Latest news is that the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals issused a stay of execution issued on October 24.

Witness were threatened and so some they lied
Those who wanted to speak truth were vilified
Where’s the justice? You want to kill an innocent man
Just so the cop’s family can have some kind of end
Do you want the truth, no you just want revenge
Someone must pay you say, and blind your quest
Ready to believe in others falseness
Are you willing to take a life because of lies and mistaken identity?
All to soothe your prideful vanity?
The court is broken, people corrupt
Why not set things right and truly be justice
Free an innocent man, free Troy Davis

Just testing this out, seems pretty spiffy so far. Not sure yet what I’m going to post here…maybe I’ll force myself to practice sketching or log stuff I’m trying to learn (i.e. Japanese).
